Firmware 2.40 is Released to the World at Long Last for PlayStation 3

This may be the strangest coincidence now that I think about it but when I woke up this morning at 4:30am to go to the toilet, I went to see if Firmware 2.40 was released...and by the time I got back, it wasnt.

Checked one more time...and it was there. The update was released just after 4:35am BST (8:35pm California time) and while there are now reports coming in of people unable to download the update, I magaed to download it no problem (Mind you, I may have been one of the first to do so which maybe why)

Just to remind you, 2.40 adds the long-awaited functions like In-Game XMB as well as Trophys, the PS3's awards system compared to Xbox 360's Achievments system as well as a new tab on the network section of the XMB, a Google searchbar.

But as of yet, the only games to include Trophys out of the box will be Super Stardust HD and PAIN but we have heard a tasty rumor that Pixel Junk Monsters will get a update within the next 48 hours to include trophys. Out of the following games I currently own for the PlayStation 3:

- Resistance: Fall of Man
- Motorstorm
- Warhawk
- Singstar & Singstar Vol 2 (Although they dont really need the feature AS such)
- Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
- Grand Theft Auto IV
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Out of that list, none of them games include trophys. However, Warhawk, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and Metal Gear Solid 4 will get updates so they can add trophys, MGS4 is a certain either way as Hideo Kojima pushed for trophys to be included before the launch of MGS4.

And as well as that, on Friday when the game comes out, Buzz will include trophys built in on the disc. Plus, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and Burnout Paradise have been confirmed to include trophys (The 2 games I regret trading in the most for the PS3...idiot)
